Specific Appearance:
Lucas is on the thin side and has a 'soft' body - not bony, but with no obvious muscles. His medium length hair is often messy, unkempt and cut haphazardly to keep it out of his eyes and off his ears. He wears a sand-colored, full body robe tied at the waist with a dark blue cord, and plain brown leather shoes.
He keeps additional scrolls and books stored in his voluminous sleeves, in addition to the one he is constantly holding in his hands and reading.
-History-
The younger son of the captain of the guard in a small city, Lucas spent his childhood living in the shadow of an elder brother who looked slated to take over their father's role. Feats of athleticism were quite beyond him; the lion's courage that dwelled in the males of his family seemed to have passed him by, and he showed little interest in being anything more than perfectly, disappointingly ordinary.
When it came to books, however, that was a completely different story. Lucas picked up the ins and outs of reading at a younger age than most, and was often seen with his nose in a book. The library was the one place in the entire city that he was always able to find, even if a journey to any other destination saw him making a wrong turn at least twice. And when it came to getting on the librarians' good side, the young man discovered he wasn't a completely inept diplomat after all - he had to be saying or doing something right, if the staff began greeting him on his way in, or saving the best of their latest acquisitions for him to break in, or giving him some of the most unusual books to decipher and read...
His journey began with a foray into the realms of history. Religion came almost hand in hand with it - the myriad gods, with their different ideals and dealings with one another - and finally the altar to the Platinum Dragon at home made sense, though he saw himself more in tune with the teachings of Ioun. The books grew more fantastic, the knowledge more bizarre, and six years after he first walked through the doors of the library, he began to realize it wasn't just knowledge he was filling his head with.
His father found him at home one night, poring over an old tome in a dark room, reading with by the light of a small floating orb while a pencil took notes on paper without a hand to guide it.
Messages were sent; favors were called in. One celebration later, Lucas was on his way to the house of an old family friend an Arcanist, the jubilant well-wishes of his relatives still ringing in his ears.
It was nice to finally be good at something, he thought, but he really could have done without all the fuss. It kept him away from the books he hadn't finished reading.
